Hi everyone!

Thanks for stopping by OceanRoadBook.com.

My hope is that this project would be a source of encouragement for you wherever life's journey is taking you. This book is simply me sharing what the Lord laid on my heart as I read the book of Joshua on a family vacation to the OBX.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Be careful what you ask for?

As I sat on a North Carolina porch, listening to the waves of the ocean crash just a few hundred yards away, I asked the Lord what I thought at the time was a pretty small question. "What do you have for me, Lord? A 7 word prayer that opened a figurative floodgate.

While you read through the book, I'd encourage you to ask someone to take the trip down your Ocean Road with you. I think you'll find the reflection questions at the end of the chapters conversation starters that will be fun to process together. The questions themselves are ones I was asking myself rhetorically...on the fly...as I wrote the book. You can certainly take that approach to the Ocean Road journey. However you take the trip, I'm excited you are here!

The book is almost finished.

5 years after I started it.

Can you relate?

Have you ever put something off that you knew you needed to finish?

Were you scared no one would like the end product? Were you intimidated to "put it out there" for fear of how the world might see it, talk about it, or even ignore it all together?  If you can answer "yes", welcome to the club.

I didn't write Ocean Road because I have everything in the book mastered. I'm writing it because I feel the struggle life presents to all of us. I am very much aware of my flaws. And yet...I get excited about what I'm learning and want to keep growing, and have a desire to simply share what I feel the Lord laid on my heart...with you.

So here I am...walking my Ocean Road.

I'd like to invite you, and anyone else you'd like to bring along, to walk your own Ocean Road experience. Something tells me we'll all learn a lot along the way.

Enjoy your journey.

And thank you for the honor of being some small part of it.

Blessings!

-Brett
